Smishing, short for SMS phishing, is a high-risk form of social engineering where attackers use fraudulent SMS (text) messages to deceive recipients into revealing sensitive personal information, credit card numbers, passwords, or login credentials

Smishers aim to prompt users to click on malicious links leading to phishing sites that harvest data or download malware, or they may solicit confidential information over the phone.
