What Is Identity Theft?

Defining Identity Theft

Identity theft is the use of another person’s private identification information, usually for financial gain.

Why should you be concerned?

Once criminals have access to your personal information, they can open accounts, make purchases, or even commit crimes in your name.

It is important to know that you may be held responsible for what an identity thief does while using your personal information.
